How is the ad health score calculated?
It starts at 100 and subtracts points each time a diagnostic rule is triggered. You pick an industry (iGaming, crypto, e-commerce, SaaS B2B or local business) and a platform, then enter monthly spend, ROAS, CTR, CPC, CPM, frequency and conversion rate. The tool compares each number with its built-in benchmark for that industry and platform. Every field starts with a sample value, so replace them with your own account numbers before running the check.
The rules are: ROAS below 1.0 costs 25 points, otherwise ROAS below 70% of benchmark costs 12. CTR below 50% of benchmark costs 10. CPC more than 2x benchmark costs 10. CPM more than 2x benchmark costs 8. Frequency more than 2x benchmark costs 12. Conversion rate below 30% of benchmark costs 20, otherwise below 60% costs 10. Monthly spend under the platform minimum costs 5, and spend above 5x the industry median costs 3.
What do the A to F grades mean?
A score of 90 or more is an A, 75 or more a B, 55 or more a C, 35 or more a D, and below 35 an F. Each finding is labeled critical, warning or info. The six-dimension radar chart (ROAS, CTR, CPC efficiency, frequency health, conversion rate, budget utilization) is calculated separately to show weak spots and does not change the score.
Take e-commerce on Meta. The tool's built-in benchmarks are ROAS 4.0, CTR 2.0%, CPC $0.80, CPM $6, frequency 3.5, conversion rate 6.0%, a $300 minimum monthly budget and a $10,000 industry median spend. Suppose you enter $2,000 spend, ROAS 2.5, CTR 1.2%, CPC $1.00, CPM $9, frequency 7.5 and conversion rate 3.0%. ROAS is under 2.8 (minus 12), frequency is over 7.0 (minus 12) and conversion rate is under 3.6% (minus 10). Nothing else triggers, so the score is 100 minus 34, which is 66, a C.
FAQ
- Are the ad health checker's benchmarks live industry data?
- No. The tool uses a built-in table of benchmarks by industry and platform, such as a 2.0% CTR and 4.0 ROAS for e-commerce on Meta. These are fixed values in the code and do not update in real time.
- Does the radar chart affect the health score?
- No. The health score comes only from the diagnostic rule deductions. The radar chart separately converts each metric's ratio to benchmark into a 0 to 100 value to show which area is weakest.
- Why are some platforms unavailable?
- Platform options depend on the industry, and only combinations with built-in benchmarks appear. For example, SaaS B2B offers Meta, Google, LinkedIn and YouTube, while local business offers Meta, Google, LINE and YouTube.
- Does high monthly spend lower the score?
- Only by 3 points. When monthly spend exceeds 5x the industry's built-in median, such as $10,000 for e-commerce, the tool flags possible diminishing returns at scale.
- Can I share my health check results?
- Yes. The share button writes the platform, industry and all seven inputs into the URL, so anyone opening the link sees the same result.
